Because the landscape has changed so much since then, the book, at times, seems a little dated2. It has drama, love, clean romance and suspense. Someone to slow down with, to cook for, to share things with, to possibly share a family with, that isn't concerned about youth and worried about growing old. The next three chapters are 3 lists: Stand alone and short story collections, Agatha Christie's Favorites, and several lists organizing her books by location, method of death, etc. Because I work with youth and kids and its troublesome to read that some of my kids may be seriously lonely. )I finished weeks ago, but the characters are still right here with me - a sign of good character development. I was happy to find this amazing book.

The story gripped him and he couldn't put it down until finishing it, and that's an accomplishment. Having read other accounts of life on the frontier and of the trappers/mountain men, I was also interested to read of the same locations, incidents and battles, told from different perspectives, but clearly referencing the same events, locations and people. I almost gave up reading this book- it does not start out highly readable, due to the sentence structures and use of words that even I, a National Spelling Bee contestant, had never seen or heard. I bought the book in line for a 4-5 year old child expecting bright & colorful pictures, as would be expected. As it turns out this man’s situation was not completely uncommon given the totality of the German war experience.
