It was written from the viewpoint of a "normal" person who had to fight in a war in which he did not believe, in fact, he was against it. If you like age of sail and like space opera, this series is an excellent mix of both. I was taken with CORRECTION, the previous 'entrypoint' novella - enough so that I picked up this story as well. If you are interested in this subject matter, pick a different book. This book does a nice introductory job of the subject – the commentary is well written, paper quality is excellent as is the printing and reproduction quality the artwork.
